Sweden replace latecoming trio

Teddy Lucic, Fredrik Berglund and Stefan Ishizaki have joined the Sweden squad to face Liechtenstein in Gothenburg on Wednesday after three other players were sent home.

Surprise decision
Senior professionals Olof Mellberg, Zlatan Ibrahimović and Christian Wilhelmsson were dismissed from the national-team training camp for breaking a curfew on Sunday night. Coach Lars Lagerbäck's decision has shocked many in Sweden with some speculating that the trio will not play for their country again as long as Lagerbäck is in charge.

Replacement players
BK Häcken's Lucic returns to the fold despite having announced his retirement after the 2006 FIFA World Cup. "It's an emergency situation and therefore I have agreed to play," the 33-year-old said. FC København forward Berglund, 27, and IF Elfsborg midfielder Ishizaki, 24, have made up the numbers.
