France to honour its champions

France is to pay tribute to its world and European champions of 1998 and 2000 with a special ceremony in the build-up to next Wednesday's friendly international against Greece at the Stade de France.

The French Football Federation has invited its heroes of the 1998 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2000™ to the event in Paris, which will include a presentation of all the players who contributed to either of the triumphs, on home soil and in the Low Countries. Fifteen minutes before kick-off, there will be a sound-and-light show celebrating the glory days of Zinédine Zidane and company. Bixente Lizarazu, France's left-back in both campaigns, said: "I will be delighted to see my old mates. With our busy schedules, we don't get together very often."
