Andorra to face England in Spain

Andorra have received the green light to play their UEFA EURO 2008™ home qualifier against England in Barcelona, at RCD Espanyol's Olímpico de Montjuic.

Dusseldorf meeting
The UEFA Executive Committee, meeting in Dusseldorf today, approved a request from the Andorran Football Federation to stage the Group E fixture on 28 March in Spain. Speaking to uefa.com, William Gaillard, UEFA's director of communications and public affairs, said the Executive Committee had "shown its pragmatism" in allowing the match to be played 200km south of Andorra in Barcelona.

Agreement already in place
"It is obvious that it is difficult for the Andorran federation to host a game where there could be up to 20,000 supporters coming from England in their own small stadium," Gaillard said. "Therefore our Andorran friends asked the Executive Committee to allow them to play in Barcelona. The agreement of the Spanish football authorities was already there, as was the agreement of the organisers in Barcelona." England were 5-0 winners when Andorra made the trip to Manchester on 2 September last year.
