Middlesbrough FC's Jonathan Woodgate will miss England's UEFA EURO 2008™ Group E qualifier in Estonia on 6 June after his club announced that the defender will undergo exploratory surgery on his left knee.
Recent signing
The 27-year-old, who recently signed for Middlesbrough from Real Madrid CF for €10m after a loan spell at the club, has made 29 league appearances this season and will have surgery after Gareth Southgate's side complete their campaign against Fulham FC on Sunday.
Wembley disappointment
Woodgate will miss England's inaugural friendly at the new Wembley Stadium against Brazil on 1 June as well as his country's crucial game in Estonia. Steve McClaren's side have eleven points from their six games and sit fourth in the group behind Croatia, Israel and Russia.
