Normal service resumed in Sweden

Marcus Allbäck scored twice as Sweden put Saturday's abandoned game with Denmark behind them with a 5-0 demolition of Iceland last night to go top of Group F.

Sweden put Saturday's abandoned qualifier in Copenhagen behind them with a "more normal" 5-0 demolition of Iceland to go top of Group F.

Abandoned game
Denmark had recovered from 3-0 down and were drawing 3-3 before incidents following the award of a late Swedish penalty prompted the game to be abandoned. After two goals from Marcus Allbäck book-ended a 5-0 win at the Råsunda Stadium, assistant coach Roland Andersson said: "This was a little bit more normal than Saturday's game."

Allbäck double
Ahead within eleven minutes through Allbäck, further goals from Anders Svensson and Olof Mellberg rounded off the first half. Markus Rosenberg struck early in the second period before Albäck completed the scoring just a minute later. However, Andersson maintained that the game was not all plain sailing. "It may look like an easy win on paper but in fact it could all have been different," he said.

'Key moments'
Citing a fine save from goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson which denied Brynjar Gunnarsson an equaliser for Iceland in the first half, Andersson said: "There are always key moments in a game, and Isaksson's quick reactions from Gunnarsson's flick was just such a moment. Had that ball gone in it could have been a very different game."

'Good position'
With a decision on the result of the abandoned qualifier expected on Friday, Sweden top Group F in advance of their next game, against Denmark on 8 September. "Adding this win today put's us in a very good position," admitted Andersson. "But the fact that both Spain and Denmark also won means it will be a tough battle all the way."
