Italy coach Roberto Donadoni faces a nervous wait before the world champions' qualifier in Ukraine. Andrea Pirlo and Gianluca Zambrotta trained separately from their team-mates on Monday due to knocks picked up in Saturday's draw with France, while Daniele De Rossi lasted just 20 minutes of the session before pulling up with a muscle injury. All three will undergo fitness tests on Tuesday. Gennaro Gattuso is suspended.

Guus Hiddink has called up uncapped FC Torpedo Moskva goalkeeper Dmitri Borodin to replace Vladimir Gabulov following the latter's dismissal in Russia's 3-0 win against F.Y.R. Macedonia on Saturday. The 29-year-old Borodin comes in as Russia No1 Igor Akinfeev is already ruled out. Vyacheslav Malafeev, who saved a penalty to preserve a 1-0 lead at the weekend, will keep goal at Wembley.

Steven Gerrard will play for England despite nursing a toe injury and suffering cramp in Saturday's 3-0 victory against Israel. Frank Lampard and Owen Hargreaves miss out with thigh injuries, however, meaning Gareth Barry is again likely to partner Gerrard in central midfield.

Staying in Group E, F.Y.R. Macedonia coach Srečko Katanec has called Zoran Baldovaliev and Vulnet Emini into his squad for the visit of Estonia. PFC Lokomotiv Sofia forward Baldovaliev and FK Renova's Emini come into the reckoning after Goran Pandev and Igor Mitrevski both received yellow cards in the loss to Russia and will be suspended.

Ioannis Amanatidis has been ruled out of Greece's Group C encounter against Norway because of a recurrent rib injury. The Eintracht Frankfurt striker has returned to Germany to focus on rehabilitation leaving Otto Rehhagel to mull over his striking options. The Greece coach has decided not to replace Amanatidis and will instead choose from four strikers at his disposal: Nikolaos Lyberopoulos, Dimitrios Salpingidis, Theofanis Gekas and Georgios Samaras.

Defender Kjetil Wæhler is out of Norway's squad for the vital fixture in Oslo. Wæhler had to come off with a thigh strain in Saturday's 1-0 win in Moldova. Midfielder Alexander Tettey is also a doubt for the Greece match, after he injured his thigh during training on Monday. Victory for Norway would take them top.

The Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington expects leading scorer David Healy, Keith Gillespie and Jonny Evans to face Iceland in Reykjavik despite the trio sitting out training on Monday with minor injuries sustained in Saturday's 1-0 loss in Latvia.

Wales midfielder Jason Koumas is out of their Group D qualifier in Slovakia with a foot injury. Koumas was substituted in the second half of the 2-0 defeat by Germany on Saturday and will miss the trip along with fellow midfielder Mark Jones, who has flu. Captain Craig Bellamy is back, though, after missing the Germany game to be with his newborn baby.

Germany striker Mario Gómez sits out the friendly with Romania in Cologne with the cold that meant he missed the success in Cardiff. The 22-year-old hopes to return to light training on Tuesday and take part in VfB Stuttgart's home Bundesliga match against FC Energie Cottbus on Saturday. Meanwhile midfielder Bernd Schneider, suspended at the weekend, has been called up with Christian Pander doubtful due to a bruised thigh.
