No Scotland trip for Hreidarsson

Hermann Hreidarsson will miss Iceland's visit to Scotland on 29 March with a knee injury.

Deep cut
The Ipswich Town FC defender suffered a deep cut on the joint during his side's English first division match against Stoke City FC on Saturday. The 28-year-old attempted to continue, but was unable to stand.

'Could have been worse'
"I was surprised when I saw how big the cut was, tried to stand up but found out there was nothing I could do," said Hreidarsson, who has 46 caps. "It is the worst injury I have had in my career. I have been very lucky so far and this could have been worse - I could have broken the foot."

Six-week recovery
Ipswich physical therapist, David Williams, said Hreidarsson went to a surgery where his muscle was stitched up and he will take at least six weeks to recover.

Third place
Iceland are currently third in Group 5 after losing at home to Scotland and beating Lithuania. Their next fixture after facing Scotland is in June at home to the Faroe Islands.
