Hadzievski accepts Azerbaijan post

Shakhin Diniyev has had his resignation accepted and has been replaced as Azerbaijan coach by Macedonian Gjoko Hadzievski for the remaining qualifiers.

Shakhin Diniyev has had his resignation accepted by the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) and has been replaced by FK Baku's Macedonian coach Gjoko Hadzievski for the country's two remaining UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers.

Rebuffed
Diniyev handed in his notice following the 6-1 defeat by Serbia on 17 October, and although that was initially rebuffed the AFFA made an about-turn following the death of its president, Ramiz Mirzayev, yesterday. Hadzievski has enjoyed plenty of success in his homeland, guiding FK Vardar to five domestic titles in addition to coaching the national team.

Well travelled
His other postings have included Bulgaria's PFC CSKA Sofia and Jubilo Iwata in Japan, before he took the reins of Baku this September. The 55-year-old will continue to coach the Azeri club while he oversees the national side's final Group A games in Finland on 17 November and at home to Belgium four days later.
