Century beckons for De Boer

Frank de Boer is in line to earn his 100th international cap after being named in the Netherlands squad for their UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifiers at home against the Czech Republic on 29 March and away against Moldova on 2 April.

Famous century
The FC Barcelona defender has currently made 99 appearances for the Dutch national side, and would be the first Dutch player to reach a century of international caps. His brother, Ronald, has also been named in the Dick Advocaat's squad.

Westerveld returns
Goalkeeper Sander Westerveld's performances for Real Sociedad have earned him a place in the squad, although he is likely to be second choice behind PSV Eindhoven's Ronald Waterreus. Westerveld was recalled to the national team for a friendly game against Argentina in February. Fulham FC goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is still out of contention with a foot injury.

Young stars
Elsewhere, PSV Eindhoven’s Andre Ooijer and AFC Ajax’s Rafael vvan der Vaart have both returned to the squad. However, there is no place for FC Barcelona's in-form Marc Overmars while Phillip Cocu is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Fond memories
The Netherlands and the Czech Republic will meet in a sold-out Feyenoord stadium on Saturday for the first time since the opening game of EURO 2000™. That match was decided by a Frank de Boer penalty in the final minutes.

Gullit news
In addition to the squad, the Dutch camp also announced that Ruud Gullit, who was recently welcomed into the national coaching set-up, would be made Advocaat's assistant should the Netherlands reach the finals of the UEFA European Championship in Portugal.
