Reim given time by Estonia

Estonia have named captain Martin Reim for their UEFA European Championship qualifier in Andorra.

Still hoping
FC Flora midfield player Reim was hurt in March but the injury has turned out to be more serious than first thought. He was originally expected to only miss two weeks but has not played for a month. However, Estonia coach Arno Pijpers is hopeful Reim can recover in time for the match on 30 April.

Tests due
"Martin is not training with the Flora group at the moment, so we still have to wait and see," said Pijpers. "We will have some tests over the weekend, but I hope he can recover. Even from the bench his influence is important."

More worry
Pijpers is also concerned about key central defender Raio Piiroja. The Vålerenga IF player injured himself during training with his Norwegian club just before the last national team games against Canada and Bulgaria. Although not fully fit yet, it is hoped he too will make it in time for the trip to Andorra.

Possible replacement
Estonia have a replacement ready in 18-year-old Flora defender Enar Jääger who performed well in the home 0-0 draw against Bulgaria earlier this month. Two other central defenders missing are FC Levadia Maardu captain Sergei Hohlov-Simson, who is still to shrug off his knee injury, and Flora's Taavi Rähn, who had knee surgery last month.

Foreign-based talent
The good news for Pijpers is that the nine Estonia players who earn their living abroad, and are playing first division football, are all on the list. Andres Oper has again been showing his goalscoring skills for Aalborg BK, hitting three in his last three games and is currently fourth in the Danish top scorers' list. Left-back Urmas Rooba has also won back his starting place for Danish leaders FC København, Mart Poom has finally made his debut for Sunderland AFC while Indrek Zelinski is involved with Landskrona BoIS.

Going well
Estonia, fresh from that excellent result at home against Bulgaria, have two points from three games in Group 8. Pijpers will hope his team can pick up all three points against Andorra, with history showing that the Estonians have won all five previous meetings.
