Unlucky break for Gudmundsson

Stabæk IF and Iceland striker Tryggvi Gudmundsson will be out for six weeks after breaking his leg.

Stabæk IF's Icelandic international striker Tryggvi Gudmundsson will be out of action for at least six weeks after breaking his leg in training with the club on Friday.

'Inconvenient timing'
The Tippeligaen season restarts on Saturday after a three-week summer break, and Gudmundsson's injury left Stabæks coach Gaute Larsen with a selection dilemma. "This injury could not have occurred at a more inconvenient time," Larsen said. "We are missing players through suspension and we have a number of attacking players at the [UEFA] Under-19 Championship in Liechtenstein."

Scoring record
Gudmundsson, a 28-year-old forward, has scored 24 goals in 62 games for Stabæk, including two in eleven games this season, and has played 23 games for Iceland, scoring five goals. Stabæk face Viking FK on Sunday, and currently lie third in the Norwegian top flight with 20 points from 12 matches, 12 points behind leaders Rosenborg BK.
