Kyiv duo vow to return

Valentin Belkevich and Alexander Khatskevich will miss Belarus'sgames against Czech Republic and Moldova.

Belarus's new coach Anatoly Baidachny has named a 24-man squad for the UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifiers against Czech Republic on 6 September and Moldova four days later.

Kyiv duo missing
FC Dynamo Kyiv midfield players Valentin Belkevich and Aleksandr Khatskevich are missing from the squad after making themselves temporarily unavailable for national-team duty. Both players have assured their country that they will return for the qualifiers for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

No chance of qualifying
Belarus are currently fourth in Group 3 with three points from six games and have no chance of reaching next year's finals in Portugal.
