Lucky duo win tickets in Paris treasure hunt

"A dream come true" was how one lucky contestant described winning a pair of tickets for UEFA EURO 2016 following Wednesday's hunt for mascot Super Victor in Paris.

UEFA EURO 2016 mascot Super Victor was the star of the show as a treasure hunt organised in Paris allowed two fans to win a pair of tickets each for the first Parc des Princes fixture of next year's tournament, on 12 June.

The aim of Wednesday's treasure hunt was to find Super Victor, who was hiding at an iconic Parisian landmark, with the help of clues delivered by radio station France Bleu. The 'Rendez-Vous' was set for 18.30CET, but some lucky participants were already correctly searching for the mascot at Place de la Bastille an hour ahead of time. Super Victor eventually came out of hiding at the scheduled time to acclaim from the gathered crowds.

Those involved had been given a number corresponding to their time of arrival at Place de la Bastille and, one by one, had to answer a question from Super Victor – with the first two to produce the right answer winning tickets for next summer's match in Paris on 12 June. However, the first two contestants were unable to name the year when France won the UEFA European Championship on home soil – 1984 – so it was left to Leonardo, who had arrived in third position, to claim the main prize.

EURO tickets launched in Paris

"I still can't believe it," he said. "I was only four when the FIFA World Cup was held in France, so I could not participate. To get the chance to go to a match at next year's EURO is amazing; thank you so much."

Romane, sixth in line, was also awarded two tickets when she gave the correct response to the number of teams that will feature at next year's tournament – 24. "It's a dream come true," she said. "I came here to play for my brother – it's his birthday today, he'll be so happy."

Super Victor's next stop in the treasure hunt series is today in Lens. He will then be found in Nice on Friday, Lille and Toulouse on Saturday, Saint-Etienne on Sunday, Marseille on Monday, and Bordeaux and Lyon on 19 June. Stay tuned!
