Romania coach Anghel Iordanescu has named 12 foreign-based players for the home friendly against Ukraine on 27 March.

Cernat called up
Injured Valencia CF striker Adrian Ilie is missing but Iordanescu has named promising midfield player Florian Cernat in his selection. Cernat, of FC Dynamo Kyiv in Ukraine, is a former captain of the Under-21 team and has yet to win a full cap. The domestic-based players have yet to be chosen.

Injury pair return
Two players earning recalls after injury are experienced Real Betis Balompié defender Iulian Filipescu and midfield player Alin Stoica of RSC Anderlecht. It will be a key match for Romania and Ukraine as part of their EURO 2004™ preparations, with neither country involved in this summer’s 2002 FIFA World Cup.
