Austria 2-2 Greece

Qualifiers approach
Austria are preparing to face the Czech Republic away in a Group 3 qualifier next Wednesday, while Greece will travel to face Northern Ireland in Group 6 the same night.

Rehhagel changes
After an uninspired first half Greece coach Otto Rehhagel made five substitutions at the interval and the changes had a major impact as his revamped side scored twice in four minutes after the break through Vassilis Tsartas (48 minutes) and substitute Pantelis Kafes (52).

Schopp reply
The Austrians replied almost instantly. Brescia Calcio's Markus Schopp sent a thundering shot into the net two minutes later and Haas' late intervention secured a draw.

Krankl happy
Austria coach Hans Krankl was happy with his side's performance. "We fell asleep at the beginning of the second half and we paid for it," he said. "But after going two goals down we fought back like lions." Austria are currently third in Group 3 on goal difference behind leaders Netherlands and Czech Republic. All three teams have six points but the Austrians have played one more game than their rivals.

Rehhagel surprised
Greece coach Rehhagel was surprised Austria played so aggressively in a friendly. "We could have shown more technical flair," said the German-born coach. "We will need to pay attention with Northern Ireland next week." Greece need a victory to keep in touch with Group 6 leaders Spain, who are top with six points from two games, and second-placed Ukraine, who have five points. Greece have three points from three matches.
