Setbacks for England and Greece

Squad news: England will be without Steven Gerrard and Greece without Vassilios Tsiartas on Saturday.

Could face Liechtenstein
Coach Sven-Göran Eriksson told a news conference that Liverpool FC's Gerrard had an ankle injury and Sinclair of Manchester City FC a swollen knee. "It's a pity of course that they can't play but we have to go there and try to win," Eriksson said. The pair may return for next Wednesday's home match against Liechtenstein.

Tsiartas out
Group 6 leaders Greece will travel to Armenia for Saturday's qualifier without midfield player Vassilios Tsiartas, who has a knee injury. Coach Otto Rehhagel is still unsure about the availability of Olympiacos CFP defender Paraskevas Antzas and Bolton Wanderers FC's Stylianos Giannakopoulos and said: "Tsiartas was left out due to injury but we have two lesser injury problems with Antzas and Giannakopoulos."

Spain lose Tamudo
Spain striker Raúl Tamudo has pulled out of the matches against Portugal and Group 6 rivals Ukraine after suffering a thigh strain. The RCD Espanyol player will be out for between seven and ten days as a precautionary measure to avoid aggravating the injury. Tamudo was a surprise inclusion in Iñaki Sáez's squad and his place is expected to go to RC Deportivo La Coruña's Diego Tristán.

Bartolovic blow
Bosnia-Herzegovina will be without NK Dinamo Zagreb striker Mladen Bartolovic for the Group 2 qualifiers against Norway and Luxembourg. The 26-year-old faces a month on the sidelines after damaging knee ligaments.

Semb adds to squad
In the same section, Norway coach Nils Johan Semb has added AC Siena striker Tore André Flo and Odds BK defender Alexander Aas to his original 17-man party for Saturday's game against Bosnia-Herzegovina. Meanwhile, Romania have drafted in FC Brasov midfield player Mugurel Buga for their qualifiers against Luxembourg and Denmark after Panathinaikos FC's Lucian Sanmartean withdrew with a knee problem.

Sundfors joins Swedes
Group 4 leaders Sweden have called up GIF Sundsvall goalkeeper Fredrik Sundfors to their squad for the matches against San Marino and Poland. The uncapped Sundfors will train with the squad until the San Marino game in Gothenburg but will only travel to Poland if something "unpredictable" happens, according to a Swedish Football Association statement.
