The Football Association of Iceland (KSÍ) has recruited former coach Logi Olafsson to work alongside Asgeir Sigurvinsson, who is taking temporary charge of the team following last week's resignation of Atli Edvaldsson.
Four wins in 14
The 49-year-old Olafsson presided over four wins, three draws and seven defeats during his time in charge of the national team between February 1996 and June 1997. Sigurvinsson, 48, has been with the national team as a technical adviser for six years.
Trailing the leaders
Iceland have three points from as many matches in UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying Group 5, leaving them four points behind the three teams locked on seven points - Germany, Lithuania and Scotland.
June qualifiers
The KSÍ has said Olafsson will be involved in "forthcoming games", meaning he is likely to be around at least for the June qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Lithuania. The KSÍ are currently looking for a full-time replacement for Edvaldsson.
