Carragher ready for test

England's Jamie Carragher says he is ready to deputise for John Terry against France.

Dynamic workout
Liverpool FC defender Carragher will battle it out with Ledley King of Tottenham Hotspur FC to deputise for Terry at the heart of England's defence, if the Chelsea FC player fails a "dynamic workout" and drops out of contention on Friday.

Terry 'superb'
"I'd love to be involved," said Carragher. "It will be a big loss if John does not make it because he's been superb all season. Hopefully he will get fit as quickly as possible but I'm sure, whether it's me or Ledley King who comes in, we will do as well as we can."

Utility player
Carragher, 26, has been used as a defensive midfield player and full-back by his club, but started to appear in the centre of defence at Anfield at the end of last season, and has experience of facing France's electric striker Thierry Henry.

Henry 'the best'
"Everyone knows about his pace and finishing. Henry has been the best centre-forward in the Premiership for the last three or four years, and on form he is as good as anyone in the world. He's difficult to play against, everyone has found that out this season, but it's not an individual thing, it's up to the team to try and stop someone that good," Carragher added.
