Italy play Turkey in Facchetti tribute

Italy will face Turkey in a friendly on 15 November in Bergamo's Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia in honour of their former captain Giacinto Facchetti.

World champions Italy will face Turkey in a friendly on 15 November in Bergamo's Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia in honour of their former captain Giacinto Facchetti, who was born in Treviglio near the northern Italian city and died last month.

'Example to follow'
"We want to remember the player and the man," said Facchetti's former Italy team-mate Luigi Riva. "He was an example of fair play and good behaviour and young players should take inspiration from him."

Facchetti events
Alongside the municipality of Bergamo, whose Serie A club Atalanta BC play at the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia, the Italian Football Federation is organising a series of events in memory of the 94-times capped Facchetti, who passed away aged 64 after a long illness. The Turkey game will also help Roberto Donadoni's team prepare for their next UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifier against Scotland on 28 March. Italy are third in Group B with seven points from four matches.
