Montenegro will look to keep up the pressure on England at the top of Group G as they meet Bulgaria again, hoping to repeat the victory they earned in Sofia last September.

• Elsad Zverotić's low strike from distance after 36 minutes surged past Nikolay Mihaylov in the Bulgaria goal to leave the home side reeling, and prompt coach Stanimir Stoilov's post-match resignation. That victory, on 7 September, was the first of three successive 1-0 wins that have provided the platform for Montenegro to push for a place at UEFA EURO 2012.

• Montenegro's record in their three matches against Bulgaria reads W1 D1 L1 (W0 D1 L0 at home).

• The nations first came together in Podgorica on 6 September 2008 and the match seemed to be heading in Montenegro's favour until Blagoy Georgiev salvaged a 2-2 draw two minutes into added time. Second-half strikes from Mirko Vučinić and Stevan Jovetić had earlier put the hosts ahead after Stiliyan Petrov's 11th-minute opening effort.

• Jovetić was also on target in the return fixture in Sofia on 5 September 2009, firing Montenegro in front on nine minutes before Radostin Kishishev and Dimitar Telkiyski put Bulgaria in charge with goals either side of half-time. The home team then gave the scoreline a more one-sided appearance through late strikes by Dimitar Berbatov and Valeri Domovchiyski.

• Montenegro coach Zlatko Kranjčar faced Bulgaria counterpart Lothar Matthäus when they were in charge of Croatia and Hungary respectively in a 4 September 2004 FIFA World Cup qualifier that Croatia won 3-0.
