Horst Heese, the technical director of the Malta Football Association (MFA) and national Under-21 coach Mark Miller, have been put in joint charge of the Malta team on a temporary basis, until a replacement for Siegfred Held is found.
Campaign over
Held, Heese's fellow German, left his post after Malta's UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying camaign ended with a 2-2 draw against Israel in Antalya, Turkey last week.
Previous stint
Heese had a three-year stint as Malta coach between February 1988 and May 1991. Under his guidance Malta played a total of 36 matches, winning three, drawing eight and losing 25. Miller will be in charge of training sessions with immediate effect.
