Celtic FC defender Stanislav Varga has been recalled to the Slovakia squad to face Liechtenstein on 11 October.

Celtic FC defender Stanislav Varga has been recalled to the Slovakia squad after a two-year absence for their final UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifier against Liechtenstein on 11 October.

Impressive club form
Varga, who last appeared in a Slovakia squad for a FIFA World Cup qualifier against F.Y.R. Macedonia in October 2001, earned his recall after coach Ladislav Jurkemik watched him in UEFA Champions League matches against FC Bayern München and Olympique Lyonnais.

Trio could start
"He been playing on a regular basis for his Scottish club and had good games against both Bayern and Lyon," said the coach. Jurkemik added he was likely to name in his starting lineup 1.
