Fletcher given Scottish chance

Darren Fletcher has been called up by Scotland for the make-or-break qualifier against Lithuania.

Manchester United FC midfield player Darren Fletcher could be in line for his first competitive appearance for Scotland in the make-or-break qualifier against Lithuania.

Miller returns
The 19-year-old has impressed in the Premiership and UEFA Champions League for the English champions this season. He has only made one previous appearance for the Scots in a friendly against Norway. Also recalled is Wolverhampton Wanderers FC forward Kenny Miller, who has just returned to action after injury.

Going for second
The Scots must beat Lithuania in front of a sell-out crowd at Hampden Park, Glasgow on 11 October to have any chance of taking the runners-up spot in Group 5 and a place in the play-offs. It is currently held by Iceland, who have two more points, but they play in Hamburg against group leaders Germany on the same day.
