Republic of Ireland 3-0 Canada

Duff opener
The Tottenham Hotspur FC forward struck on 60 and 84 minutes to lift Irish spirits after the failure to reach the UEFA EURO 2004™ finals next summer. Damien Duff had set the home team on their way in Dublin with a goal in the 23rd minute.

Reid shines
Ireland coach Brian Kerr has already set his sights on qualifying for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and used the match to try out some new players including impressive debutant Andy Reid, the Nottingham Forest FC winger. His selection allowed Duff a free role and it was the latter's dazzling run from inside his own half that led to a stunning first goal.

Always on top
Keane then added to his mounting tally for Ireland with a header from a Reid cross and a left-foot finish in the box. Canada's Jason De Vos had a goal disallowed for offside but the visitors never seriously threatened a confident Irish side.
