Athens date for Greeks and Swiss

UEFA EURO 2004™ finalists Greece and Switzerland are to meet in a friendly as they prepare for next summer.

Athens summit
Otto Rehhagel's team, who have been drawn in Group A alongside Portugal, Spain and Russia, will play the Swiss in the Greek capital on 18 February - one of three international dates they have planned against fellow finalists next year. Greece will also visit the Czech Republic on 28 April before travelling to Denmark on 29 May.

German test
Meanwhile, Switzerland will take on another team destined for Portugal, Germany, in Basel on 2 June. Eleven days later, Köbi Kuhn's side will begin their finals campaign, having been pitted against France, England and Croatia in Group B.

Stiel swansong
The Swiss are to play two other warm-up games in the first half of next year, with the Czech Republic and Morocco considered possible opponents. These matches could count among Swiss goalkeeper Jörg Stiel's last for his country. The 35-year-old VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach player has announced that he will retire from international football after the finals.
