Poland and Ukraine will write a new chapter in the history of the UEFA European Football Championship – and to generate further excitement among each population the two local organising committees (LOCs) launched a promotional campaign called Friends of UEFA EURO 2012.
Up to 100 people in either country are enjoying the privilege of being nominated Friends of UEFA EURO 2012. Half have been selected by their respective LOC from public figures and celebrities, while the remaining spots were open to the community, from five-year-olds to 95-year-olds, via various competitions.
These contests gave local people the chance to express themselves about the meaning of UEFA EURO 2012 in their country, as well as reflecting on the significance of the competition slogan Creating History Together. The campaign kicked off in September 2010, when most teams began the qualifying phase of UEFA EURO 2012.
