Twelve winners of a football quiz for the general public in Ukraine have been unveiled as the latest Friends of UEFA EURO 2012.
The lucky dozen were among 150 applicants to answer correctly. Their names were selected at random and they received their diplomas from sports commentator Olexandr Glyvynskiy, and Mykola Vasylkov and Olexandr 'Fozzi' Sydorenko, themselves Friends of EURO.
Three of the 12 – Olexandr Leschenko (from Poltava), Yulia Karelina (Makiivka) and Andriy Tymchuk (Ivano-Frankivsk) – were presented with an additional prize: a trip to UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
The competition completes the lineup of 50 Friends of UEFA EURO 2012 drawn from the general public in Ukraine. Another 20 secured their place in a drawing competition and there were 18 winners of a creative contest, titled Support our team – Creating History Together.
Another 50 public figures are being selected by the local organising committee (LOC). Tournament co-hosts Poland will also nominate 100 Friends of EURO.
