The Faroe Islands Football Association (FSF) has confirmed that an agreement has been reached for Lars Olsen to become the next coach of the Faroe Islands.
Olsen, who will sign the deal on Wednesday, has agreed to take on a role that will require a deeper involvement with Faroese football as a whole than his predecessors assumed. The 50-year-old Dane will assist with the development of the junior national teams at all levels and establish close cooperation with Faroese First Division clubs and their coaches.
Olsen, who captained Denmark to victory at EURO '92 and counts Brøndby IF, Randers FC and Odense BK among the clubs he has managed, is the third Dane to coach the Faroe Islands after Allan Simonsen and Henrik Larsen, both former Danish internationals. Olsen replaces Brian Kerr who stepped down last month after two and a half years at the helm.
