Guus Hiddink has stepped down as Turkey coach following their UEFA EURO 2012 elimination.
Turkey's hopes of matching their run to the 2008 semi-finals were ended by a 3-0 aggregate play-off defeat at the hands of Croatia following a goalless draw in Zagreb on Tuesday. Hiddink and the Turkish Football Association (TFF) agreed the termination of his contract by mutual consent.
The 65-year-old Dutchman had previously led the Netherlands, South Korea, Australia and Russia, plus club sides including PSV Eindhoven, Real Madrid CF and Chelsea FC. He took on his fifth national-team role in August 2010 and oversaw Turkey's second-placed finish in qualifying Group A to earn a play-off berth.
