INTERTOP and Real have been announced as the UEFA EURO 2012 official retailers of licensed products in Ukraine and Poland respectively.
INTERTOP and Real will stock a range of products, including glasswear, gifts and sportswear, with both supermarket chains celebrating their relationship with the tournament on Wednesday. Tournament mascots Slavek and Slavko and the Henri Delaunay Cup were the star attractions at INTERTOP's launch event in Kyiv and Real's media conference in Warsaw.
UEFA's head of sponsorship sales and licensing Alan Ridley, who attended both events, believes officially branded goods are a crucial part of the UEFA EURO 2012 experience. "These products are very important because they give everyone a chance to feel and touch the tournament," he said. "The host countries are special because it is here where the atmosphere of a big football festival is building. We are very happy with this cooperation, which will deliver licensed products to the fans."
Serhiy Bashlakov, vice-president of INTERTOP's parent company MTI, said: "We're delighted to be on board as the official retailer of licensed products for UEFA EURO 2012 in Ukraine, a sporting event that is certain to be a very proud moment in the history of our country." Rafael Gasset, the Real chain's managing director in Poland, added: "As a football fan, I am fully committed to the collaboration with UEFA."
In Warsaw, Ridley said he was "satisfied that many Polish companies were involved in the manufacture of the merchandise," while in Kyiv he said: "We are happy to welcome INTERTOP into the UEFA EURO 2012 licensing programme. Together we will ensure that Ukrainian people have easy access to a range of high-quality and relevant official licensed products across a number of retail points to give them maximum opportunity to have a memento of this event."
