With the opening game just 100 days away, the countdown to UEFA EURO 2012 is well and truly under way. To mark the occasion UEFA.com and McDonald's are delighted to announce the official EURO Fantasy Football game is open and ready to play.
The game is free to enter, fun and easy to play – there are also a number of exciting new features added to this special version of the popular game. After picking a squad of 15 players from any of the 16 competing nations, managers can now employ the insight of an assistant manager, who will be at hand to offer hints, tips and advice throughout the tournament – as well as providing managers with invaluable statistical pointers and updates on possible suspensions and injuries within a squad.
Another addition to the EURO game is the Fans Tournament – which gives players the opportunity to collectively compete for their country in a head-to-head style competition that mirrors the group stage of the real tournament. The top teams from each group advance to the knockout stage and eventually a final – where one nation will be crowned EURO Fantasy Football champions.
Although the official 23-man squads will not be finalised until 29 May 2012, you can begin playing the fantasy football game now using the provisional lists. Managers are allowed to make unlimited changes up until the EURO kicks off, so do not worry if you pick a player who, for example, suffers an injury just days before the championship starts. Read the UEFA.com in-house Tipster for advice on choosing your first squad – and keep an eye on the Tipster for more helpful hints and suggestions on the players to select as the tournament progresses.
As well as the grand prize for the overall champion, there are a number of other prizes on offer throughout the main fantasy game and the Fans Tournament. Players that register before 1 April 2012 will also be entered automatically into a special Early Bird prize draw to be in with a chance of winning an official tournament football and a copy of the EURO 2012 PS3 game.
