Rosický could miss Czechs' quarter-final

Michal Bílek is preparing for the "possibility" that Tomáš Rosický might not play against Portugal as the Czech Republic captain continues to be treated for an Achilles injury.

Tomáš Rosický remains a doubt for the Czech Republic's UEFA EURO 2012 quarter-final against Portugal on Thursday as he continues to recover from an Achilles tendon injury sustained in their group game against Greece.

The captain was the only member of Michal Bílek's squad not to train on Monday morning at the Municipal Stadium Oporowska in Wroclaw. Rosický had been working out alone since he was replaced at half-time during the 2-1 win against Greece on 12 June. He missed Saturday's victory against Poland that confirmed the Czechs as Group A winners.

"We will have to take into consideration the possibility that he might not be able to play, but there are still a few days for him to recover – there is a chance," said Bílek, who fielded FC Viktoria Plzeň's Daniel Kolář in the playmaking role usually occupied by Rosický.

Team spokesman Jaroslav Kolář added: "Tomáš Rosický, together with physiotherapist Pavel Kolář, flew to Prague on Sunday evening. Tomáš will undergo a scan and treatment at a specialised clinic and should return to Wroclaw on Tuesday to be able to join the team for the journey to Warsaw."

The Czechs will board a flight to the Polish capital, venue for their last-eight tie, at noon on Wednesday.
