The branding and logo for UEFA EURO 2016 in France will be launched next Wednesday – and to mark the occasion, a giant replica of the Henri Delaunay Cup will be on public display at the Champ de Mars public park in Paris on Sunday and Monday.

The trophy, which is presented to the winners of the UEFA European Championship, was thus called in tribute to the first UEFA general secretary, Henri Delaunay, following the organisation's founding in 1954. Delaunay, who was also a member of the FIFA board and general secretary of the French Football Federation (FFF), passed away in 1955 and therefore never saw his plan for a national-team competition realised. It reached fruition in 1958 with the creation of the European Nations' Cup.

The public will be able to take photos of the replica trophy, which is 12m tall and will be installed in such a way that the Eiffel Tower will be in the background. Fans can also keep abreast of events in Paris via the official UEFA EURO Facebook page, catering for over 1.7 million users. @UEFAEURO – the official home of the UEFA European Championship on Twitter – was launched today, meanwhile, providing a platform for supporters worldwide to share their views on the competition, engage with content from UEFA.com, and keep up-to-date with all the latest news and developments. The page is also available in the language of the host nation (@UEFAEURO_fr).

Three years before the next EURO, this event serves to herald a tournament that will feature 24 teams at ten venues in France between 10 June and 10 July 2016. The replica trophy event precedes the ceremony to unveil the UEFA EURO 2016 logo and visual identity at Paris's Pavillon Cambon Capucines on Wednesday 26 June. Present at the ceremony will be UEFA President Michel Platini, the FFF president Noël Le Graët and the chairman of EURO 2016 SAS, Jacques Lambert.

Media wishing to take pictures of the trophy are invited to the Champ de Mars on Sunday (12.00–22.00CET) and Monday (10.00–18.00CET).
