New venue
It will be the first time the FK Sartid stadium has been used as an international venue. "We did not want the players to have to endure a long journey to another continent after the match in Brazil [a 1-0 defeat last Wednesday]," said Yugoslavia coach Dejan Savicevic. "Lithuania were available and it is good for us to play against a middle-range European team."
Ecuador encounter
Savicevic added that there would be a further friendly against Ecuador on 8 May in the United States, although the venue is yet to be confirmed. "Ecuador are in the FIFA World Cup finals and this is the reason we want to play against them," he said.
