Greece recall for Alexandris

Olympiakos Pireaus FC forward Alexios Alexandris has been recalled to the Greece squad.

Olympiakos Pireaus FC forward Alexios Alexandris has been rewarded for his excellent club form with a recall to the Greece national squad for two friendlies in May.

Romania and Cyprus
Greece are playing Romania on 12 May in Alexandroupolis and then against Cyprus three days later in Rhodes. Along with Alexandris, Greece's German coach Otto Rehhagel has also recalled Nikolaos Michopoulos and Dimitrios Nalitzis after lengthy absences.

Top scorer
Alexandris last played for his country nearly a year ago in a 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifier against England. This season has seen him impress as one of the key players in the national league and he is the top scorer in Greece.

Club comittments
Michopoulos, who plays in England with Burnley FC, last played for the national squad in August 1999, in a friendly versus El Salvador. Sporting Clube de Portugal forward Nalitzis, who will only be able to play against Cyprus because of club commitments, last represented Greece in December 2000.
