Placed in an ominous-looking section with Belgium, Italy and Sweden, Republic of Ireland coach Martin O'Neill admitted it was a "tough" draw for his side, but the Irish will "give it everything" according to the 63-year-old.

It's a tough draw for us – it couldn't get any tougher. Italy should really be in Pot 1. They haven't dropped that much in the rankings – they are a top-ranking side so it's difficult. It's good for the Irish fans but difficult for us. We start off against Sweden in Paris; we will have a big support – let's go for it and give it everything.

Richard Keogh, Republic of Ireland defender
We knew going into the draw that there was the possibility of getting a tough draw. You want to play against the best teams and the best players. It is an exciting draw with some tough teams in there, but we have proven on our day we are a match for anyone.
