Republic of Ireland name long list for EURO

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill is keeping his UEFA EURO 2016 options wide open, naming a 35-man provisional squad for their upcoming friendlies.

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill will give all of his players a chance to prove their fitness ahead of UEFA EURO 2016 after naming a 35-strong squad for the pre-tournament friendly games against the Netherlands and Belarus.

O'Neill is keen to give injured players such as Shay Given, Marc Wilson, Daryl Murphy and Jeff Hendrick time to regain fitness, while there is also a first senior call-up for Under-21 international Callum O'Dowda, who has impressed in England's fourth tier with Oxford United.
