UEFA EURO reporter's view: Sweden

UEFA.com's Sweden reporter Sujay Dutt hopes Erik Hamrén's side can provide the platform for Zlatan Ibrahimović to sparkle in what could be his last big tournament.

Squad analysis
Sweden will take a much younger squad to France than they did to UEFA EURO 2012, with six players from the team that won the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship selected by Erik Hamrén. But for injuries, there might have been more. However, as always, all eyes will be on captain and leading scorer Zlatan Ibrahimović; with the 34-year-old on song, Sweden can beat any opponent.

One to watch
One of Sweden's U21 stars in Prague last summer, Victor Lindelöf did not play in a single EURO qualifier – no great surprise since he was only a reserve at Benfica until February. Since then, the 21-year-old's well-timed tackles, sound passing and cool head have earned him a place at the heart of the Portuguese champions' defence and he is very likely to be a starter for Sweden in France.

How they'll play
A 4-4-2 formation looks likely, but exactly who will feature in each slot is not carved in stone. Sweden's most likely starting full-backs, Mikael Lustig and Martin Olsson, both like to push forwards, and it will take hard work from the likes of Kim Källström to win the ball in midfield. Up front, much will depend on Ibrahimović. He may need to score a few; in qualifying, Sweden conceded four more than both Austria and Russia, the teams that finished above them in Group G.

What you won't know
Erik Hamrén will be calling on the services of a less-celebrated Premier League winner. The Swedish Football Association (SvFF)'s long-term physiologist and video analyst Paul Balsom spent the past season working at Leicester City in his native England.

How they'll do
After (in his own words) "putting Sweden and then France on the map", Ibrahimović will want to make the most of what might be his last major international tournament. A motivated Zlatan will be expected to lead the team through the group stage. After that, anything can happen.

Brolin knocks England out

Most memorable EURO moment
Along with several other friends from Solna, I was a volunteer at EURO '92. That meant I was able to watch all the games at Råsunda – including Sweden's famous 2–1 win against England, with Tomas Brolin putting the icing on the Swedish cake after combining brilliantly with Klas Ingesson and Martin Dahlin.

What I'm most looking forward to this summer
The sense of occasion. Whenever I see the Tour de France on TV, I'm reminded of how much enthusiasm the French put into sporting events.
