Belarus surprise Ukraine

Belarus claimed a 2-0 victory over Ukraine in the final of a four-team tournament on Sunday.

Belarus claimed a shock 2-0 victory over Ukraine in the final of a four-team international tournament today.

Belkevich opener
Belarus, considered outsiders in the competition, went 1-0 ahead thanks to a 48th-minute strike by FC Dynamo Kyiv midfield player Valentin Belkevich, voted the tournament's 'Most Valuable Player.'

Wonder goal
Aleksandr Hleb sealed the victory in the 63rd minute when the VfB Stuttgart midfield player outsprinted Ukrainian captain Olexandr Golovko and beat goalkeeper Olexandr Shovkovskyi after a brilliant 40-metre solo run.

No Shevchenko
The Ukrainians, without Milan AC striker Andriy Shevchenko, created few problems for a disciplined Belarussian defence.
