Numan no longer going Dutch

Arthur Numan, 32, has retired from international football after 45 caps for the Netherlands.

The Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) has announced that Rangers FC defender Arthur Numan has retired from international football.

'Club interests'
"Numan is no longer available for the Dutch side," a KNVB spokesman said. "The player told national coach Dick Advocaat personally. He wants to pursue his club's interests." Numan probably knows Advocaat better than most, having played for him at three different clubs - Haarlem FC, PSV Eindhoven and Rangers.

Capped 45 times
Now 32, Numan made his international debut in 1992, going on to represent his country 45 times, including appearances at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups and the UEFA European Championships in 1996 and 2000.
