Kim Källström was called into Sweden's squad for the first time today as co-coaches Lars Lagerbäck and Tommy Söderberg named a 19-man squad to face Russia in a friendly next week.
'A big step'
The 19-year-old Djurgårdens IF player, who fits in just behind the front two for his club, has only this year turned professional. But he could be in line for an international debut next Wednesday. "Everything has gone quicker than I could have expected," he said. "This is a big step in my career, but I must not stop at this."
Prica in contention
Winger Rade Prica, who joined FC Hansa Rostock from Helsingborgs IF this summer, is also in contention for a first cap while goalkeeper Mattias Asper retains his squad place, despite fitness fears following his transfer from Real Sociedad to Malmö FF.
Asper, Hedman, Antonelius, Edman, Jakobsson, Lucic, Mellberg, Mjällby, Michael Svensson, N Alexandersson, A Andersson, Farnerud, Ibrahimovic, M Jonson, Källström, Linderoth, Prica, A Svensson, Magnus Svensson
