Held waits on Birkirkara duo

Malta coach Siegfred Held has announced a 20-man squad for the match against F.Y.R. Macedonia.

Malta coach Siegfred Held today announced a 20-man squad for Wednesday's friendly against F.Y.R. Macedonia in Skopje.

Held waits on duo
The German coach wants to check on the availability of the Birkirkara FC duo Michael Spiteri and George Mallia who will be arriving today after their midweek UEFA Cup commitments in Ukraine. If the two players get the green light, then Held will drop two players from the squad to make way for the Birkirkara duo.

Captain returns
Captain David Carabott makes a welcome return to the squad after suffering a leg injury last February. "I was determined to get back at all costs," Carabott said before thanking everyone who stood by him during his long lay-off from top-level football.

Dimech included
Sliema Wanderers FC defender Luke Dimech, who recently had trials with English clubs Notts County FC and Lincoln City FC, is also included. Joe Brincat, Ian Ciantar and Miguel Mifsud are all out of the reckoning due to injuries while David Camilleri and Malcolm Licari have not figured in Held's plans on this occasion. Malta have never beat the Macedonians in four previous meetings between the two sides.

Malta squad
Darmanin, Muscat, Camenzuli, Carabott, Chetcuti, Debono, Dimech, Said, Spiteri, Theuma, Agius, Giglio, Holland, Mamo, Turner, Bogdanovic, Mallia, M Mifsud, A Mifsud, Nwoko
