Scotland coach Berti Vogts has named the uncapped Birmingham City FC midfield player Paul Devlin in a 26-man squad for the EURO 2004™ qualifier against Iceland next week.
Double date
The 30-year-old has received his first call-up for the Group 5 match in Reykjavik on 12 October as well as the friendly international with Canada in Edinburgh the following Wednesday.
Back in contention
There are also recalls for wingers James McFadden of Motherwell FC and Rangers FC's Neil McCann, and defenders Russell Anderson, Callum Davidson, Steven Pressley and Jackie McNamara.
'Good luck to Weir'
But Stephen Crainey, Paul Dickov and Allan Johnston are dropped after last month's 2-2 draw in the Faroe Islands. Kevin McNaughton and Derek McInnes miss out through injury, while defender David Weir has made himself unavailable for international duty. Vogts said of the Everton FC man: "I spoke to David Weir two days ago and wished him the best of luck."
