Portugal coach Agostinho Oliveira has recalled goalkeeper Quim for the friendly internationals against Tunisia and Sweden after the SC Braga player completed a six-month drugs suspension.
Quim in
Agostinho named the stopper, who had been banned after testing positive for the steroid nandrolone, in a 22-man squad for the games against Tunisia on 12 October and Sweden on 16 October. Quim replaces Vítor Baía, himself currently suspended by his club FC Porto following a training-ground incident.
Neca call
Also included is the CF Os Belenenses midfield player Neca Fernandes, who receives his first call-up and could make his debut at his home ground, the Restelo stadium, against Tunisia. The following players are on standby: Pedro Mendes, Romeu, Nelson, Marco Ferreira, Pedro Henriques, and Zé Nando.
