Manchester United FC winger Cristiano Ronaldo is a doubt for Portugal's UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifier against Serbia after straining his left ankle in training on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old limped out of the session in Belgrade and will face a fitness test tomorrow to ascertain whether he will be available for the match at the FK Crvena Zvezda stadium. His absence would be a real blow to a Portugal side who are beginning to hit their stride following a slow start to their Group A campaign.
Ronaldo scored twice in Saturday's 4-0 win against Belgium in Lisbon as Luiz Felipe Scolari's team climbed to third in the section, three points behind Poland but with a game in hand. Serbia are level on points with Portugal, but behind on goal difference, and will be looking to make amends for a 2-1 loss in Kazakhstan at the weekend.
