Trio take first Scotland steps

Allan Hutton, Charlie Adam and Jay McEveley have received their first Scotland call-ups for the qualifier in the Faroe Islands and a friendly against Austria.

Scotland coach Alex McLeish has handed first call-ups to Rangers FC pair Allan Hutton and Charlie Adam as well as Derby County FC defender Jay McEveley for next month's UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifier against the Faroe Islands and the friendly international against Austria on 30 May.

Stars return
At 22, right-back Hutton has forced his way into the national picture following improved performances during the second half of the season, while Adam has been rewarded for an impressive first season at senior level in which he has scored ten league goals from midfield. "Alan has done well and deserves to be in the squad," said McLeish. McLeish also welcomes back Manchester United FC midfielder Darren Fletcher and Everton FC striker James McFadden after both players missed the double-header against Georgia and Italy through injury and suspension. Scotland currently lie second in Group B on 12 points, the same tally as group leaders Ukraine and third placed France although the Scots have played a game more.
