Lithuania will be without Marius Stankevicius for the remainder of their UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying campaign after it was confirmed the Brescia Calcio defender has broken his collarbone.
Pending surgery
The 26-year-old sustained the injury during the second half of Lithuania's 3-1 defeat by Scotland on Saturday when he landed awkwardly following an aerial challenge. He will undergo surgery in Italy and is likely to be out for several months – a significant blow for club and country. Lithuania are already without suspended defender Tomas Žvirgždauskas for the Group E fixture against the Faroe Islands on Wednesday while striker Robertas Poškus is doubtful with an achilles problem. Mantas Savenas and Aurimas Kučys have been called up.
