Johnson set to miss Sweden game

Birmingham City FC midfielder Damien Johnson will miss Northern Ireland's qualifier against Sweden on 17 October after picking up a hamstring injury.

Birmingham City FC midfielder Damien Johnson has picked up a hamstring injury that will keep him sidelined for up to a month meaning the Northern Ireland international will miss his country's UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifier against Sweden on 17 October.

Frustrating time
It has been a frustrating time for the 28-year-old who has played just one match all season, against former club Blackburn Rovers FC in the English League Cup on 26 September. He had been working his way back to fitness but tore his hamstring during a reserve game against West Ham United FC on Monday night. Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington will hope to have Johnson, who has 45 caps, back in time for the last two qualifiers of the campaign against Denmark on 17 November and Spain on 21 November.
