Seven step up for Vogts

Berti Vogts has added seven players to his Scotland squad for the qualifiers against Iceland and Lithuania.

Berti Vogts has added seven players to his Scotland squad for the UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifiers against Iceland at Hampden Park on 29 March and Lithuania in Kaunas four days later.

Seven in
Brought in to augment the 18-man party announced last week are Preston North End FC defender Graham Alexander, Rangers FC defensive duo Maurice Ross and Robert Malcolm, Celtic FC midfielders Jamie Smith and Jackie McNamara, West Bromwich Albion FC forward Scott Dobie and Rangers striker Steven Thompson.

Suspended duo
Ross and Thompson are suspended for the Iceland match, but will be available for the Lithuania trip. Leicester City FC striker Paul Dickov withdrew because he needed surgery on a groin injury. Scotland are currently second in Group 5 with four points from two games, trailing leaders Germany by two points.
