Johnsen gets his chance

Rosenborg BK's Espen Johnsen received his first Norway call-up for the match against the Republic of Ireland.

Rosenborg BK goalkeeper Espen Johnsen received his first call-up to the senior Norway squad today when coach Nils Johan Semb announced his selection for the friendly against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on 30 April.

Impressive start
Johnsen was included in the squad on the back of his impressive early-season perfomances for the Norwegian champions which have kept Icelandic international keeper Árni Gautur Arason confined to the bench.

Carew back
The Scandinavians are boosted by the return of John Carew up front after the Valencia CF striker served a suspension during the recent 2-0 win over Luxembourg that kept them top of their UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying group. Sigurd Rushfeldt, meanwhile, retains his place following his goal in that match.

Norway squad
Holtan, E Johnsen, Olsen, Basma, Berg, Bergdølmo, R Johnsen, Hansen, Lundekvam, Andersen, Bakke, Carew, Flo, Svindahl Larsen, Leonhardsen, Riise, Rushfeldt, Solskjaer.
